Our curriculum and history shape the way we think about our collective past, and give us a lens through which we look at the rest of the world. Does more need to be taught about the days of the British Empire when Britain ruled over one quarter of the world's population?
With calls for the curriculum to be more open about the arrogance of Britain's imperial past and the insensitivity of the present, we take a look at methods and attitudes surrounding addressing the legacy of the British Empire in schools. We will discuss different perceptions of colonialism, post-colonial nations and politics.
